Gilbertscar Foot is our Holiday Let & Self Catering Cottage in Ambleside. It set in a quiet rural location just a 10-12 minute walk from the town centre.

Recently refurbished to a high standard with 2 double en-suite bedrooms ideal for 4 people. Gilbertscar is a self-contained apartment on two floors and is part of a Victorian country house built in 1866. It is ideally situated in the heart of the Lake District and gives you easy access to the magnificent scenery and all of the attractions in the National Park.

You also have access to the gardens of Riverside B&B which is right next door.

Gilbertscar is the best cottage we have ever stayed in in the lakes. We'll only use somewhere else if there is no availability here!

We stayed in the self catering cottage next door to Riverside B&B. I have never stayed in a self catering property where everything has been provided... Diney provides a welcome pack with delicious homemade bread, milk, eggs, tea, coffee, fruit, etc. which is wonderful after a long journey.

The property is spotless and very comfortable. I cannot recommend Gilbertscar Foot highly enough and we hope to return.

The 117th Vale of Rydal Sheepdog Trials and Hound Show will be held on Thursday 12th August 2021 in the spectacular setting of Rydal Park. The Park is approximately a mile north of Ambleside in Cumbria - The Lake District.

Rossett Pike – Walk at the end of the Langdale Valley

Wansfell gives wonderful views of the whole of Windermere and its surrounding fells. It is around 5-6 miles and takes in around 1800 ft of ascent. The walk is a little steep in places and the actual summit of Wansfell is just short of 1600 ft.
